I love backpacking, and in recent years each summer I have
been home I have tried to plan at least one backpacking excursion. This summer Valerie and I hiked Johnson
Pass. Driving to Seward, you hit
both ends of the pass, and the trail wrapped around the mountains on the
opposite side as the road. We
scored a beautiful weekend of 75 degrees without a cloud in the sky and had a
fantastic time! Here are some
pictures from our trip.
The "before" picture. With these two goof balls you are bound to have a wonderful time! |
And into the woods we go! |
Beautiful Alaska :) |
Beautiful friends! |

Our wilderness camping spot |
It wouldn't be a camping trip without jumping in a lake! |
We made it! |
This had to have been the fastest post hike picture ever, as
we were being chewed by about 80 million mosquitoes. We decided near the beginning of the hike that if we had a
dollar for every stream we had to cross we could buy a Moose’s Tooth
pizza. We concluded when we
finished that we could buy about 20 Moose’s Tooth pizzas… It was a wonderful hike! We saw marmots, porcupines, and
thankfully no bears!
